India: Faces 10 Crore Cyber Attacks After Pahalgam Terror Incident - PM Alerted
In a recent high-level meeting, India’s Prime Minister was informed by top security officials that the country has faced over 10 crore cyber attacks since the terror strike in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. The government suspects that these cyber attacks are part of a bigger plan by anti-India elements to disturb peace, spread fear, and steal sensitive information.
Hackers have targeted government websites, defence networks, banks, private companies, and even ordinary citizens. Many attacks are traced back to groups in Pakistan and other countries who use advanced tools to hack systems, spread fake news, and steal money through phishing and fraud calls.
The Centre has asked all ministries, states, and agencies to stay alert. The PM stressed that protecting India’s digital space is as important as guarding our borders. He also wants strict action against cyber criminals and better laws to punish them.
While the government is strengthening its cyber defences, every Indian must do their part too. Here’s how you can stay safe:
- Never click on unknown links in emails, messages or social media.
- Use strong, unique passwords and change them regularly.
- Enable two-factor authentication for all important accounts.
- Keep your phone and computer updated with the latest security patches.
- Do not share personal details like OTPs or bank info with strangers.
- Report any suspicious activity to your local cyber crime cell or call 1930, the national helpline.
